PS3 vs. XBOX 360

The XBOX 360 used to be known as the ultimate gaming system, however this may no longer be the truth with the PS3 getting better every day. Every gaming system has three key components that people love, and those are video play, online gaming, and overall price.

First off, the ability to watch videos on your gaming system has always been something that the consumer looks for. Currently, the XBOX 360 offers DVD play, along with video streaming via Netflix. These options are pretty standard, but can be matched with cheap DVD player, and Netflix box. However, the PS3 offers both DVD and Blu-ray disc play, along with streaming videos off the internet. There’s also a new capability that the PS3 offers in this area, and that is Netflix video streaming as well. Now, if you compare the two, the PS3 matches the XBOX 360 in everything it offers video wise, and exceeds it with other capabilities, therefore the PS3 wins this category for it’s fantastic video play capabilities.

Now for a hot topic, which gaming system offers better online gaming capabilities? Well, to start off, the XBOX 360 has a massive online gaming community, along with added features. However, to use the XBOX 360’s online gaming capabilities you must pay for an XBOX LIVE account, which is $7.99/mo. But on the other hand, the PS3 offers free online gaming through the PlaystationNetwork. Although, as I mentioned above, the XBOX 360 does have a huge online gaming community behind them, where as the PS3 does not, as it was introduced after the XBOX 360. This draws me to a conclusion that the PS3 ultimately is better in comparison than the XBOX 360.

Now that times are hard, you should know if the price is worth the cost. Both the PS3 and XBOX 360 sell for $299. However, they differ in hardware and specs, along with various other items that you may need to purchase. For starters, the XBOX 360 does not come with Wi-Fi, therefore you might as well tack another $50 onto the XBOX 360 as the internet is necessary to utilize the full potential of the XBOX 360. Also, as I mentioned before, you need to have an XBOX Live account, which cost an additional $7.99/mo just to use online gamine, and other features. Whereas the PS3 does not include any additional fees for their gaming system. That would also make the PS3 win this category.

All in all, the PS3 is the obvious choice for anyone looking for a gaming system due it’s great video play, cheap and reliable online gaming, and overall worthy price. Now that you know the PS3 is the ultimate choice you should have no troubles purchasing the correct gaming system. Last but not least, remember to research expensive products before you purchase them.
