RLulz Brand (Clean, Simple, Secure – PHP Scripts)

Josh Foskett Feb 4, 2010

Over the past month or two I have really been thinking about my future, and what I want to do after school. This very question always leads be to the same result, and that’s some form of web development career in the future. Therefore I have decided to start the RLulz Brand. This brand will consist of two products; content management system and user system. Regardless if they are eventually open source or not, I want to improve my coding skills greatly. Along with providing others with insight on my coding abilities, etc. As well as getting my name out there.

The content management system (RLulzCMS) will consist of easy to use web based script which allows you to manage your site with ease, yet having the peace of mind in knowing that your site is secure. As of the moment, there really aren’t that many well known content management systems out there that are free, and easy to use. Sure vBulletin just released one, but come on, that’s obviously overpriced, and worth the money in my opinion. This CMS will be developed in PHP, using MySQL as the primary database to store the content. I have developed many content management systems in the past, however I feel that they are not up to par, nor do they have the security one needs. Therefore I look forward to completing this project, and having the feeling of accomplishment.

Now I know that you are wondering about the other product that I was talking about which was the user system. This user system, just like the CMS will be coded in PHP, using MySQL as the database to store a majority of the information for the site. This makes it cleaner and more efficient. This user system will offer basic social networking abilities (like Facebook, MySpace, etc), yet it will not cost you a bundle to use like phpFox.

Also, I plan to code a fully functional skinning system for both systems, along with various other features.

Anyways, that’s all I have to on this issue at the moment, and I will be sure to post updates on this blog when they come, as that’s the purpose of this project.
